Another hobby that my Step Dad, Art Woods, had was collecting pocket watches. Particularly railroad grade pocket watches. After his death my mother gave me several of his watches and one of those watches was a Hamilton 992 railroad grade watch. So of course I had to take the back off to see the works, and for a guy that is interested in anything mechanical especially if it involves gears, another of Art’s hobbies became my own. Art had a watchmakers bench that I ended up buying from my Mom which was full of clock and watch parts, tools and a few watches. I now have a small collection of pocket and wrist watches of my own and have taught myself some rudimentary watchmaking skills thanks to YouTube and other online resources. From time to time I clean and service watches for my friends and family.
